Ramblings of an old soul

Love is where the heart is

In the outer space of the universe of subconscious minds
The ill winds often blow where no one feels

When love is abandoned and the heart is empty
one often weeps the tears held back forever

And when the mind is overwhelmed with fear and loneliness
it plays a cruel game against the empty heart

Tell me oh special one why the love we had has flown away
when it seemed on such solid ground

And why the promises of the past have now been buried
among the dead flowers of the rose bouquet

No solace I can find in the wilt of the rose that once meant
I love you and now promises only pain from the thorns

But love is where the heart is and I will find myself
again free of self pity and remembering

And will start anew when my heart finds another romance
which keeps the loneliness at bay

Surly love is where the heart is and not in the subconscious
that we cannot connect with when awake

Yes, yes I do believe that I will heal my lonely
heart and it will find a new and special lover

When I can forget the hurtful thoughts that spring
from remembering the unfounded falsehoods of you

I will escape into another world of happiness when
someone fills my arms for love is where the heart is

And my new found freedom is bounding in the happy
thoughts because it knows to follow the heart

 The Raven and his cat

Here I am totally relaxed with my cat at my feet.
Here I am with the remote in one hand and a Martini
in the other. Watching a baseball game while the Mrs.
Raven slaved over a hot stove fixing dinner for me.

The shirt if from my latest flight to Oskosh, Wisconsin. The cat was an abandoned kitten who was hand fed by a wonderful couple.

I live for this.

 Calm To Soothe My Soul

Life’s fragile nature is not easy for one to see
So we go from day to day thinking we are free
And then we choose to live without much thought
Of the price we’ll pay for what we really bought

While traveling through this veil of mighty self
While hiding our soul in life’s closet on the shelf
And not having introspect into what we’re given
We go on having fun, after all we’re just livin’

And by not stopping an looking at the love we share
We tend to a fragile life with the burdens that we bare
After all our soul is hidden in life’s closet high and dry
It’s in the calmest moments when we hear our soul cry

For in the hectic life we live it’s fragile nature shows
Only in those quiet moments we’re seeing how it flows
And in the solitude the closet opens wide and lets us in
There we see our soul in a lonely state holding all our sin

No rest have we given it during our wildest playing
And now we need to take away the burden by our praying
And can only do what is needed through a lonely psalm
To soothe our soul we need some precious quiet calm

We alone can lift the burdens that we have carried on
From day to day and night to night into every dawn
The penitence that we have to pay, pay we always must
To give our souls a rest from a life that’s filled with lust

 Perish the thought

The thought occurred to me this morning that just made me burst out laughing.

The radical Muslims, in their recruitment of young men for suicide missions, and the Ji Had, tell the recruits that dying for Allah has the reward of going to heaven where 72 virgins await them.

Imagine the pain in their faces when 36000 Muslims arrive at heaven and are greeted by 2,592,000 old wrinkled up Catholic Nuns.

Now if that isn't picture worth a thousand words, I don't know what is.

The price of freedom and the cost of liberty

Back in 1776 a few visionaries formed what is now our government.
They swore their lives and their fortunes to the cause of freedom.

They could have given up on the idea very easily, but it wasn't what they new was best. Had we had the liberals that we have now in our forefathers group, we would probably still be British subjects having our spot of tea this afternoon. There still would be no free elections and we would ultimately answer to Royalty.

America The Beautiful is what it is because men and women have the foresight to make sure, by making the ultimate sacrifice, that we have the liberty that, the signers of the declaration of independence meant for us to have. They are listed here:

Delaware • George Read • Caesar Rodney
• Thomas McKean

Pennsylvania • George Clymer • Benjamin Franklin
• Robert Morris • John Morton
• Benjamin Rush • George Ross
• James Smith • James Wilson
• George Taylor

Massachusetts • John Adams • Samuel Adams
• John Hancock • Robert Treat Paine
• Elbridge Gerry

New Hampshire • Josiah Bartlett • William Whipple
• Matthew Thornton

Rhode Island • Stephen Hopkins • William Ellery

New York • Lewis Morris • Philip Livingston
• Francis Lewis • William Floyd

Georgia • Button Gwinnett • Lyman Hall
• George Walton

Virginia • Richard Henry Lee • Francis Lightfoot Lee
• Carter Braxton • Benjamin Harrison
• Thomas Jefferson • George Wythe
• Thomas Nelson, Jr.

North Carolina • William Hooper • John Penn
• Joseph Hewes

South Carolina • Edward Rutledge • Arthur Middleton
• Thomas Lynch, Jr. • Thomas Heyward, Jr.

New Jersey • Abraham Clark • John Hart
• Francis Hopkinson • Richard Stockton
• John Witherspoon

Connecticut • Samuel Huntington • Roger Sherman
• William Williams • Oliver Wolcott

Maryland • Charles Carroll • Samuel Chase
• Thomas Stone • William Paca

These men risked their lives, property and the future of all of us so that you, yes You, could go out and watch a parade, set off some fireworks and not have to worry that some Red Coat could hold your future in his hands.

Yes this is America the beautiful, sustained by its military might and its continuous willingness to make what ever sacrifice necessary to make sure that you can celebrate its beauty every fourth of July.

Have a great holiday, and God Bless America!
