Ramblings of an old soul

 Five years of fear

Since this image was seen on TV on 9/11/2001 Not one more incident has happened on American soil.

Because of our intelligence service, which is about to be hampered by a bunch of class a idiots in congress, has been able to find out when and how the enemy was plotting to kill you, a friend or a member of your family. We must prevail or all of you women will end up in Burqas and have no rights what so ever. The female children will not even have the right to go to school and become educated. The male in your family can legally kill you if you disgrace the family. In the eyes of the Muslim it is not murder to kill a female member of the family if the head of the household calls for it. All we have to do is to become complacent and we will become the victim of senseless violence again and again.

Now is the time to stand up and be counted. Stand up for Freedom, stand up for liberty, stand up for women's rights and stand up for out wonderful military without which we already may well have been speaking Japanese or German.

I love my country enough that even at 71 if asked to fight for it I would sacrifice everything I have for the rest of you.

 Toss your lonely fears aside

When by chance your true love comes your way
When romance makes a spark in your lonely heart
Can you really feel the blessing of that day

Will you or will you not grow and bud and blossom
Or let your shyness rule your thoughts this time again
And shyly end up playing, life’s game of opossum

Do not let yourself be left alone this night so very rare
Have boldness and shout out for your love of life
And let not yourself become the lonely maiden fair

Somewhat like a flower waiting for the break of spring
You’re just a silent mystery on the verge of blossom
Waiting for the proper time at the end of winter’s fling

If you are the bashful one trying to find your way
And a painful past keeps you from having what should be
Toss your lonely fears away so you can find this day

The love that came just by chance to find you there
And let you bloom from the bud of what you had become
So two hearts can be together with love the two can share

Yes toss your lonely fears aside and be a part of love
For love has found you just by chance and it shall be
The lasting love of your life just like stars above

There forever the two of you like roses in the spring
In life’s garden, beautiful together in full bloomed love
So toss your lonely fears aside and see what life can bring

 A little poem

A
Likeness
To my love
A rose bud pink
A sunrise dawning
The softness of a mink
The freshness of a dew drop
The meadowlarks that sing
More than everything
The gentle touch
Of angels
In her
Kiss

 The funeral

There was a funeral given for the best person I ever knew
But it mattered only to his friends and family each a few
Across the street from the church a little grocery store
Had its morning deliveries from the bread man and more

As each left the store and went on his to their next call
They just kept coming and going, just business after all
None of the vendors knew my friend but is still seemed odd
That they looked at us from the store without even a nod

Trucks with signs on their side, like Budweiser the beer
They came and they went without knowing what happened here
With all the people in front of the church we were attending
No thought was had that the commerce just might be offending

The man that we came to give homage to in the little chapel
They were delivering things like some bananas or apple
Out of the trucks the sustenance of life kept flowing
No mind of the people to the funeral they were going

Life stops for some but for others life just passes by
With the work a day world going on, not a tear to cry
Over the one who passed into heavens gate immortal
While chips and beer and bread passed through the portal

Of the little market on the corner from the church step
While inside the church, friends and family freely wept
And when the funeral came to a close we all went for fare
For punch and cookies from whence they came we didn't care

Then my friend's son spoke to us and thanked all for coming
Across the street in the little store the register was humming
And another truck came to deliver the goods they needed today
We recognized though one had passed that life wasn't going away

 A voice from the past

Somewhere in the caverns of my mind a memory
Clings to my thoughts and reawakes past days
Were as a child my thinking was what I knew
And thought that dad was normal in his ways

I can’t remember him hugging me when I hurt
And when I excelled at anything I was always less
Than what he had expected of me and he bragged
When he was young his parents he would impress

And when I was troubled and my heart ached so
There was no consoling in my fathers heart
He’d remind me to be strong and learn to face
My troubles head on and play the tough guy part

So what did I learn from my father who surely was
A man who didn’t seem to care or love his son
And was the voice I heard in my head that cursed
And forced me not to cry when hurt was done

I learned that fathers should be kind in heart
And love their children with fullness of devotion
To kiss and hug them when they were being good
And let them cry when they’re caught up in emotion

And remind them every day that their father cares
And wants the very best for them in all the days
So in the times where it counted most to the child
They could count on their father for love and praise

The voice from the past sometimes fills my mind again
With the harsh reality of improper parenting ways
And I cast it out and replace it with feelings of love
Fulfilled for my children in all their coming days
