Ramblings of an old soul

 Ramblings on faith

Some times I wonder what will come when I sit down to write
And just start typing and looking at the words that come
Rambling thoughts about life and what makes lives bright

Is it the connection to others that fills our lives with glee
Or our connection to nature and all that she can bring
Or maybe just living life the best we can while being free

What would we be if we were born somewhere else on earth
To what end would we live and what would be our fate
Where would our lives take us and what would be our worth

How could we know of right and wrong and what the difference be
What would we believe in and who, would be from our teachers
For what is right to anyone is only what they learn you see

Because our destiny proves to be what our upbringing demands
What God we know is taught to us and drives our faith
So, who we believe in is only within our parent's hands

Faith that resides in us for more than a thousand years
May be right and may be wrong, but who's to say who's right
The history of our past can't be erased with a million tears

So what judgment can be made of the faith of another man
Who's family brought the faith through all the many years
Only the master of the universe has the right and can

How do we know that what we believe is the faith that's true
When the writer of another is writing the same words as I
And asking the same questions of himself that I ask of you

 Finding love

When in one's life a search begins for an elusive thing
One carries on the search in silence to fulfill the dream
But, even if one is silent the soul will try to sing
Sing out to the listener of the souls the searcher's scheme

And when one seems to come upon the object of their search
By coincidence or what may seem accidental at the time
Eventually one understands they're not left in the learch
To have an accidental answer to their dreams oh so sublime

So serendipitous it will seem that luck takes the blame
Credit goes not to the master of the universe who made
The chance meeting of the two who's love starts to flame
And builds from there to lasting dreams that will not fade

Keep on searching but not on purpose just keep it all inside
And let the aura of your feelings fill the space around you now
Let your soul do the searching for you with feelings set aside
And your special someone will find you, I know he will somehow

 Here it is Thanksgiving

Here it is thanksgiving day a holiday for most
For those who are grateful for what they have today
Can share the real meaning of being the host
Of friends or family or a stranger who passed this way

Pilgrims came to Plymouth's shore on the sailing ship
And learned from the native people to grow their food
They divided the land for each at the end of the trip
And shared all work and rewards for the common good

Then some failed to do their share of proper farming
There was no incentive the leader sensed the reason
No matter how they worked or didn't it was alarming
Resentment filled their hearts every harvest season

So they issued land to each equal in amount of acres
Farmers grew and sold their goods and got their pay
And thus started free enterprise for all the takers
Private ownership of land, a value that stands today

So we have the right of ownership and the freedoms too
Something to really be thankful for with liberty to boot
The pilgrims paved the way for Americans to be true
Capitalists and not colectivists, now ain't that a hoot.

Happy thanks giving to all. May God bless you and make your
lives fulfilled.

 Integrety for its own sake

My grandfather told me when I was just a high school student that a person who has no integrity is just an empty shell of a person without character.

People who lack integrity can lie without thinking about the consequence of their actions. People who lack integrity can make false promises with the internal knowledge that they will not even attempt to make those promises come true. I am reminded that Hillary Clinton, in a speech several years ago said "my mother named me after Sir Edmund Hillary, the first person to successfully climb Mount Everest. He successfully conquered Mount Everest in 1953 and was Knighted soon thereafter. If Hillary Clinton had been telling the truth she would have had to be born after the Knighting.

Now lets see, how old is Hillary Clinton, 60? Well, she was born October 26th 1947, 6 years prior to Sir Edmond Hillary being Knighted.
That makes it quite impossible for her to be named after Sir Edmund Hillary. It seems like a small point, but what drove her to lie?

The lack of personal integrity, made it possible for her to make a statement that was clearly a fabrication. When a person doesn't have integrity they have no clear intra-personal guidance system to force them not to fabricate things about themselves.

Presently, she is saying that she is uniquely qualified to be President of the United States of America. I ask, why so?

After the Terrorist attack 9/11/2001 on the UN towers, she co-sponsored legislation to give money to the family members of those killed in the attack. The record shows that the next legislation she co-sponsored was in 2004. What did she do for her pay check during the three years that there was no forthcoming legislation.

If she is uniquely qualified to become President, I wonder how her lack of leadership in the Senate shows that to be true. You would think that a Senator who is uniquely qualified to be President would have been elected by her peers in the Senate to a leadership position in that body.

HMMMMMM, another lie perhaps!

 A new beginning

There in the wilderness of the crowded world I find
That the attitude I have makes what I have in mind

What either makes my world a better place in which to live
Where I find the strength again to learn to love and give

All that makes me what I am after all the hardest times
Now behind me though un-erasable like the noise of chimes

That once have peeled cannot take back the sound they made
So as the past is gone but not forgotten like games I played

With my own existence where foolish deeds and foolish ways
Destroyed my inner world and left me wandering in a daze

Ah but now I have escaped the bonds of wanton self desire
And filled my life with God's own will and let the past retire

From here in the newest stage of life's endeavor I can taste
The warmth of knowing I've done right here in God's embrace

I can go now in peace with newness of strength where I remain
Free to pursue my dreams again in a new world free from pain
