Romantic Fools

What romantic fools are we who stand beneath the sky at sunset's close
Wishing that the moment could remain unchanged in that majestic pose

That with the time fleeting on, no interruption comes along to cast
Its shadow on our interlude but leaves it in its splendid time to last

When in each others arms we found the dreams of lovers our hearts within
We romantic fools are lost and locked in dreams of what might have been

Our souls be shackled by fear, that if the sunset turns to starlit dark
'Twill plunge into the darkness the fire and leave a meager spark

So we fools cling to one another as if today only in its daylight time
Was all that remained of our forever that was on our lips in rhyme

As we promised all to one another, an all, that neither had to give
Thus the romance shared was only for the day and in our dreams to live

On and on to keep us bound in dream and be the everlasting jewels
Two of many in this setting of sunset, time and we romantic fools

It seems to be that the positive mind
Has a way to make the path we find
An easier road to traverse our lives
And keeps us from the downward dives

Of mental anguish and worry and such
That tends to pull us down so much
When in our life it is good we need
To keep us from sowing negative seed

As each of our days pass and are spent
In negative thoughts not worth one cent
To positive ones they need to be changed
Our minds and hearts can thus be arranged

To a new paradigm of how ourselves we see
And put to rest the negative that wants to be
In charge of our life when it has no right
To put our goals important out of our sight

Then we must think in very positive ways
To insure the best for our coming days
And into the future our positive planning
So the source of negative flames not fanning

It is our paradigm that rules our lives then
And puts our thoughts so negative to pen
That needs to be changed into a positive vane
So the new paradigm keeps us on the right plane.

Live not the negative thoughts that intertwine
In the lost portion of life that is our mind
But all the waking moments positive thoughts keep
To prevent the calling of wrong that makes us weep

Often when we look at our lives
When we've been husbands and wives
And things have happened so bad
We traverse our lives hurt and mad

We all have some emotional pain
That comes to haunt us now and again
'Cause we're not happpy with our past
In broken relationships that didn't last

And all assume that we are to blame
For the quenching of our loves flame
And carry the guilt within our mind
And the guilt carries the pain we find

But when we think things through so wise
'Twas our expectations that were over size
Having our dreams not fulfilled we lament
Over and over all the time we have spent

So keep your thoughts on the right path
Or you will suffer your mind's sure wrath
And be thankful wounds can heal with years
And put assunder this terrible vail of tears

When we take a long look at our life
And remember the troubles and the strife
At times we think that somewhere in the past
Are the "Glory" days that went on by too fast

And we wish to live again the good old days
When things were oh so simple in their ways
And people didn't trash their neighbors place
And gang graffiti never showed its' ugly face

When there was peace and quiet in the night
When children could walk alone without fright
And mothers knew their kids were safe in school
And the children all lived by the golden rule

When guns were used for hunting not for killing
The innocent who to join a gang were not willing
When we all knew our neighbors for miles around
And we all loved America for patriots did abound

And though we chose a party to represent us all
One party or the other filled the congress hall
And by todays standards they all felt the same
And worked together cooperation was their aim

Then was then and now is now, we never can go back
But face uncertain times if courage is what we lack
And prevail we must but we must do it all together
Above all my friends we're of the same old feather

Black and brown and white and every other shade
We must stick together for the price our fathers paid
Was too great for us to ever let the freedom be taken
Too precious to the future where our children must awaken

To a state of life without the tyranny of the evil men
To hold them captive in a place without liberty then
No inheritance for our children of the life we live today
If we don't fight the enemy together it will pass away

That we allowed our steadfast foe to divide our nation
We will regret forever that we allowed the separation
By politics that will lead to our freedoms final demise
But if we put our country first we'll show that we are wise

And show the world that liberty is so precious we will pay
Any price that has to be paid to finally win the day
And insure for future generations that bondage will not be felt
Because with our mortal enemy together we will have delt

A blow so great that forever no one else will take us lightly
And remain the guiding beacon of freedom in their prayers nightly
Where despots in the world will then forever have no place
And wars will be a part of something we will never have to face

So the best is yet to come to all of us who are willing
To commit our time and lives and thereby be fulfilling
Our obligation to future generations for the freedom lover
And the world will join us when liberty they can discover
