Ramblings of an old soul

Purge the thoughts and kill the pain.

Here we are on the precipice of
The mind's great chasm of life
With the thoughts of all the
Pressures that give us daly strife

Where words come into our minds
Through what we read and hear
Those that make us very happy
Or those that can cause a tear

The words of a poem or a song
That lingers in our thinking
And makes us feel great joy
Or like our life is sinking

Why would we then fill our selves
With the words that make us fall
Instead of filling up our mind
With the words that make us tall

We read and listen to the language
That fits our interpersonal script
Even though what we hear or read
May make is feel beat and whipped

Why do we then, torture ourselves
By listening to sad mournful songs
When if we listen not our mood will
Swing to the happiness that belongs

In its' truly rightful place
in the thoughts within our mind
We wallow in our guilt and keep
The horrid sadness there in kind

When we shed the past from our
doings and straighten out our being
Sad songs have no effect on us
For we've erased the bad we're seeing

And purity fills our new self image
Because the past is truly gone away
And cannot haunt us in our thinking
For we know that we will never stray

From our new paradigm of loving care
For the love of our life on going
For now we share our intimate time
With only one who's love is showing

So now we settle in our thoughts
And know that what is gone is past
And we can share the happy days
With our one love that will last

 October's Last Night

When Darkness fell
on October's last night

The black hatted witches
all took to their flight

The goblins and ghosts
all came 'round to haunt

While weird faced monsters
went out on their jaunt

Warlocks and ghouls were
rattling some chains

While werewolves scratched
on some window panes

It is fright that fills
my mind once more

When I hear those monsters
knocking on my door

When I opened the door
'twas to my surprise

It was just trick or treaters
in their scary disguise.

 Looking at the fall

Staring out the window where fall has changed the leaves
To gold and bronze and red, some falling from the trees

Landing softly on the landscape among the plants still green
Beneath a clear crisp sky of blue and sun upon the scene

Gaggles of geese on the flyway heading for southern places
Across the heavens in vee shaped flocks that winter soon erases

The changing of the time from summer to a preview of the cold
That follows fall every year as nature's colors there unfold

When all but the evergreen their naked limbs soon will show
The scene of winter bitter cold and the falling of the snow

And when the snow shall cover the earth with a blanket white
We'll soon forget the beauty of the colors in our sight

When we gazed out our windows at the fading light of fall
And colored leaves brightly lit by heaven's golden ball

Were only there so briefly like a painting we've seen before
But couldn't take for our own - so wanted it even more
