Sure, the earth is warming. One would expect a trend of more than 20 thousand years to continue as long as nothing came along to reverse it.

Every continent on the earth was covered by ice which in some places was was thousands of feet thick. Imagine yourself in a time machine, going back in time about 20,000 years. You get out of the machine and all you can see is ice. All around you are miles and miles of ice. You'd think you must have landed on a glacier or frozen lake. Actually, you are in the ice age. About 1/3 of the earth was ice. The most recent ice age was almost 10,000 years ago. As the earth started warming up the ice started to melt. The last ice age left traces that it was there. It left GLACIERS!!! Sheets of ice covered valleys and rivers. Ice spread to different parts of the world. Scientists called it the ice age. It kept melting, then froze again. This went on for about a million years. About 10,000 years ago the earth started to warm up. Sheets of ice started to melt. As the ice melted it left lakes and broad valleys with a mixture of rocks and soil. The only ice left was up high in the mountains. Mind you my friends that the ice which covered every continent in the world melted back to just the northern most and southern most areas of the globe before people existed.

It makes me wonder about people who think the glacial melting is due to human activity. My question to them is what caused the earth to warm enough to melt all that ice before people were even here? Yosemite valley was carved by a 4,600 ft. thick glacier. None of us humans were even on the face of the earth when that occurred.

We may be, in some very slight way contributing to the warming. However, because all that ice melted before any humans were on the earth, I have my doubts that it is anything more than Mother Nature at work trying to get the earth back to where it was during the eocene period, prior to the ice age. If you look carefully at where government spending is going you will find a money trail into the pockets of the scientists trying to prove the illogical. Don't be fooled by a bunch of political rhetoric. Study it for yourself and you will see that the earth was a tropical paradise where millions of dinosaurs roamed the earth where they had plenty of vegetation to eat. All most all the dinosaurs were vegetarians. Now extinct because of the ice age.

I don't know about you but I am sick of OPEC. I am also sick of the do nothing congress that is beholding to the environmental whacko's of this country.

We have many nuclear electrical power producing plants in the U.S. All of them have been operating for years without incident and since the last one was built many improvements and technologies have come along which can make them even safer and cleaner. Electricity can be produced from nuclear energy for less than $.04 (Four cents for those of you who are decimally challenged)per kilowatt. With the current cost of electricity produced from oil or coal, about $.11 per kilowatt, it costs $60.00 per barrel to get oil from oil shale. The shale has to be heated to 650 to 700 degrees to get the oil from the shale. This heat could easily be a free byproduct of a nuclear power plant. Your stupid congress (currently run by liberal Democrats) doesn't care enough about America to get off their collective butts and get it done.

We have enough oil in the shale in Colorado, Utah, and Wyoming to furnish all of our needs for more than 400 years without any imports from the middle east, Russia, Venezuela, Mexico, or Canada. Out of all of those producers the only one's who are our friends are the Canadians. All the rest of them would like to see us dry up and blow away.

We need some new leadership. Liberalism and leadership are mutually exclusive. Liberal leader is an oxymoron.

Every one of them is lambasting the oil companies for our problems. Under the current laws it would take 13 to 15 years to get all the permits in place to build a new state of the art refinery at a cost of a mere $20,000,000,000.00. No smart businessman or woman in their right mind would spend 20 billion dollars and 15 years to get a 7.5% return on investment which is the current return on investment for the oil companies.

We need more refineries and we need the oil out of that shale. The federal government should be doing everything in their power to help in getting the job done instead of doing every thing in their power to stop the job from getting done.

Earlier in the year a comment about one of my poems put me in a contemplative mood. I re-read the comment today. From whence this writing comes.

The end of the year and the celebrations that occur
Are very different for all who celebrate, as it were
Whether one faith or another, we all come together now
To celebrate the One who binds us all to Whom we bow

From humble beginnings to the King of kings we know
How He became the teacher and healer of both high and low
Where his miracles helped, poor or rich, the sick and lame
Who came from far and near and learned to praise His name

Even if we can't imagine the full meaning of His life
He heals our hearts from life's pains and its strife
And fills our souls with newness when we believe in Him
He came in his humility to fill our lives to the brim

Not all believe as some of us do, the message is not heard
Because the mind is closed to the hearing of the word
Some believe differently they are not ready in their mind
Their thoughts are simply of a totally different kind

We can only listen to what we're ready and willing to hear
Based on past experience and the things that we hold dear
So those who cannot possibly believe because of their past
That has closed their minds may someday listen at last

To the wisdom of the ages that's held so precious and true
That waits for us to see the light as all will finally do
But 'till the time that passes is enough to let us learn
Our minds will not be open to the things for which we yearn

For all of human kind seeks to find a meaning to their lives
And some create a set of values that somehow just arrives
There in their thoughts without a biblical connection
And it seems to help to give their meager lives direction

So if we are not ready to hear how we could be our best
We'll have great problems in our lives we can't put to rest
But if we find it in our hearts the greatest word to hear
We will find ourselves in celebration at this time of year
